Applying for SBEP Outside of Canada

The Sustainable Blue Economy Professional (SBEP) designation is open to ocean professionals around the world. While the designation standards are consistent globally, international applicants may encounter a few additional steps during the application process.

What is different for International Applicants

International applicants follow the same core SBEP application process, with a few additional considerations related to education verification and regional context.

You may be asked to:

  • Provide additional education documentation
  • Clarify how your experience aligns with SBEP standards
  • Work with our team to ensure regional credentials and experience are appropriately recognized

For full details, please review the International Applicant Guide.

These steps help ensure that the designation maintains consistent, rigorous, and credible across regions.

Regional desks help:

  • Provide localized support for applicants
  • Align SBEP standards with regional contexts
  • Build strong professional communities globally

If your organization is interested in partnering with OAC to support SBEP delivery in your region, we’d love to hear from you.
