Justin P. Martin

Justin P. Martin is L’nu (Mi’kmaq), a member of Millbrook First Nation, and a leader in moving Indigenous communities from participation to ownership in Atlantic Canada’s ocean economy. As Director of Fisheries for Millbrook First Nation, he directs one of the Nation’s primary economic engines. As CEO and Co-Founder of First Spear Group, he structures the capital, partnerships, and community ownership models behind Indigenous entry into ocean industries, including the Indigenous strategy for AtlantiCan Growth Partners’ Blue Economy Fund and an acquisition creating Indigenous-owned marine capability. Previously, as Fisheries Manager for the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaw Chiefs, he generated $23 million in rights-based fisheries revenue across eight Mi’kmaw Nations under the treaty right affirmed in R. v. Marshall. His work centres on one outcome: value that stays in community.
